What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a simple,  effective practice that has a range of scientifically proven benefits for well-being, mood, mental health and pain management.

Jon Kabat-Zinn, one of the pioneers of the modern Mindfulness movement, is fond of saying “You can’t stop the waves but you can learn to surf”. This is really the heart of Mindfulness: that our lives may present unwanted situations that we can’t do very much about and yet the QUALITY of our life can be profoundly improved. So, for example, we may be living with chronic pain, loss or a very stressful relationship or job, but using Mindfulness we can learn to meet these challenges with a greater sense of clarity, spaciousness, and calm. With continued practice people learning Mindfulness find that their lives start to feel richer, calmer and happier.

“I have enjoyed the gentleness and kindess with which the course has been delivered by Sally, and the sense of safety that the practice of Mindfulness brings to mind and body – not having to do or feel anything but just being with whatever is. This has been refreshing, since most other activities tend to ‘demand’ something from you.”

“Sally has a lovely warm manner. She is good at inviting contributions without any pressure and her questioning really helps to delve deeper into the experience.

Thank you for a life-changing course!”
